Mr. Steven Beard, 72, of Thorntown, passed away on January 14, 2019 at St. Vincent Hospital.

He was born on November 15, 1946 in Clinton County, a son of the late Icle and Wilma (Watts) Beard. He was married to Cheryl Robbins on June 19, 1970 and together they celebrated 47 years of marriage.

Steven graduated from Frankfort High School. He served in the U.S. Army as an MP-JSA in Korea. Steven worked at National Seal and then as a journeyman millwright for Caterpillar until his retirement. In his spare time, Steven enjoyed fishing on Lake Freeman, trap shooting, watching war movies, attending Army reunions, drag racing with his 1967 GTO, and teaching his son how to work on cars, do electrical work and many other life lessons. He was a member of the NRA and UAW.

Survivors include his wife; one son; four grandchildren; one brother; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Adalynn Ivy Beard.

Family and friends will gather on Thursday, January 17, 2019 for visitation from 4-8 PM and the funeral service will be held on Friday, January 18, 2019 at 2:00 PM in the Strawmyer & Drury Mortuary, 2400 N. Lebanon Street, Lebanon. Steven will be laid to rest following military rites at Maple Lawn Cemetery in Thorntown.
