Asa M Bowen Dies at age 67
Filer, July 6, Asa M Bowen, 67, former police chief at Filer, died at 2:45 am Sunday at Magic Valley Memorial Hospital following a two-year illness.
He was born Nov 17, 1891, at Bethany, Mo. He came to Filer from Colorado in 1935. He had engaged in farming here and served as police chief for eight years, retiring from office in 1948. He was a member of Filer Masonic lodge No 55, AF and AM.
Mr Bowen married Emma Cook, Sept 7, 1916, at Fort Morgan, Colo. In addition to his widow, he is survived by two sons, Jack Bowen, Portland, Ore, and James A Bowen, Filer; two daughters, Mrs Betty Hawley, Filer, and Mrs Helen Bennion, Island Park; twelve grandchildren; one brother, Fred B Bowen, Brush, Colo; five ve sisters, Mrs Fanny Strickland, Lamoni, Ia; Mrs Hattie Tapio, Brush, Colo; Mrs Bess McKim, Madera, Calif; Mrs Dora Hurd, Aberdeen and Mrs Junia Clark, Portland, Ore.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 pm Wednesday at Twin Falls mortuary chapel with the Rev Norman Schafer, Filer, officiating. Ritualistic rites will be conducted at the IOOF cemetery, Filer, by lodge No 55, AF and AM.
