Filer: Helen M Bennion Hayslett, 60, of Filer, died Monday evening at St Lukes Regional Medical Center in Boise following an extended illness.
Born on Oct 9, 1925, in Woodrow, Colo, she graduated from Filer High School in 1943. She worked for the Union Pacific Railroad in Wyoming as a telegraph operator during World War II. She married Robert A Bennion on June 24, 1944, in Salina, Kansas. He died on Sept 9, 1976. They lived in Idaho for 17 years before moving to California in 1961, where they lived until 1970, when they returned to Filer, where she had since resided.
Surviving are four sons, James Robert Benion (sic), Kelly Asa Bennion and Jerry Owen Bennion, all of Filer, and Jack Vincent Bennion of Phoenix, Ariz, one daughter Katherine Bennion of Filer, her mother Emma Bowen of Filer; one brother Jack Bowen of Omaha, Neb, one sister Betty Kendall of Chowchilla, Calif; and six grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father and one brother.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 pm Friday at the White Mortuary Chapel in Twin Falls, with the Rev Jim Sommer officiating. B Burial will follow in Filer IOOF Cemetery.
Friends may call at the chapel Thursday from 5 to 8 pm.
The family suggests memorials may be made to Mountain States Tumor Institute
