Willard C. Anders, 78, of 116 E. First, Spring Valley, father of a Bloomington resident, died at 5:30 a.m. Wednesday (Jan. 9, 2002) at I.V.C. Hospital, Peru.
His funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday at Granville United Church of Christ Congregational, Granville, the Rev. Christine Tinker officiating. Cremations will follow his service. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Barto Funeral Home, Spring Valley.
He was born Aug. 5, 1923, in Jacksonville, to Howard V. and Lois McCain Anders. He married Peggy Ann Read in England, during World War II. She died Dec. 24, 1998.
The local survivor is a daughter, Heather (Len) Trovero, Bloomington.
Other survivors include two sons, Lou (Dottie) Anders, Houston, Texas, and Mike (Patti) Anders, Cincinnati, Ohio; two brothers, Burl and Howard Anders, both of Jacksonville; one sister, Mokey Jasper, Spring Valley; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
His parents and two brothers preceded him in death.
He was a foreman for Illinois Power Company in Hennepin before retiring after 37 years.
He was a member of the Granville United Church of Christ Congregational and the LaSalle V.F.W. He was a World War II Army veteran, serving in Europe.
