Charlie Burtis Moore, 67, of Cowpens, SC, died at 11:30 pm, Saturday, September 15, 1979, in General Hospital.

A native of Rutherford County; son of the late Samuel Perry Moore (1876–1940) and Carrie Ballew Moore (1878–1912); husband of Bertha Marler Moore.

Retired textile employee.

Other survivors include daughters, Joanne Moore Smith and Norma Kay Moore Hodge; sons, Perry Wofford Moore (1941-2009), Virgil Moore, and Steve Freddy Moore; brothers, Matthew Anderson Moore (1893–1982), James M "Jimmy" Moore (1903–1978), Joe Bunyon Moore (1908–1993); half-brothers, Cleatus Reid Moore (1914–1998), Frank Weldon Moore (1917–1983), Samuel Buford Moore (1920–2000), Boss William Moore (1921–1998), Kelly Junius Moore (1923–1991), Samuel Perry Moore, Jr. (1926–2004); sisters, Cylda Virginia Moore Hames (1897–1995), Bessie Lee Moore Banks (1910–1993); half-sisters, Ella Ree Moore Bell (1915–1994) and Evelyn Moore Oates (1928–2011); stepdaughter, Sherry Towe; and ten grandchildren.

Also preceded in death by his siblings, Sallie Moore Tessenier (1896–1931), Fermon Moore (1900–1901), Willie Moore (1902–1909), Linda B Moore (1906–1909).

Funeral services were held at 3:30 pm, Tuesday, September 18, 1979, at Gordon's Mortuary, Blacksburg, SC by Revs. Terry Johnson and Hanry Green; burial in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, Spartanburg, SC

The family received friends from 7:00 - 9:00 pm, Monday, September 17, 1979, at the mortuary.
