She was born December 7, 1925 in Findlay, Ohio to Carrie M. (Anderson) and Ernest L. Roberts. She graduated from Findlay High School in 1944 and attended Findlay College. Maxine married James H. Williams Sr. (Jess) on June 2, 1947 and had two children – Jeri and Jimmy. They spent 67 years together. She had an illustrious career at the Defense Construction Supply Center. Maxine was a long time member of St. Paul AME Church, including a member of the Senior Usher Board, Daughters of Conference, the Servamus Club, and she regularly attended Tuesday night Bible Study. She was also a member of the Helen Jenkins Davis Scholarship Fund Club, and she thoroughly enjoyed her membership with the Bonaza Club.
Maxine was preceded in death by her parents – Carrie M. and Ernest L.; her husband James H. Williams Sr. “Jess”; her daughter-in-law Margaret June Williams; her brothers – Melvin, Compton, Austin, and Valjean (Dickie); and her brother-in-law Wilbur B. Marshall Jr.
She is survived by her children – Jeri (Melvin) Smith and James H. Williams Jr. “Will”; her sister, Rowena Marshall; her grandchildren – James H. Williams III “Tres”; Mahliik (Hermonie), Jiibril, Nynikka “Nikki”, and Kahlill Palmer; and Ashley (Josh) Circelli; great grandchildren – James H. Williams IV “Jae”; Niya, Kadin and Asha Palmer; and McKenna Circelli; her special friend Kathi Kristof; and a host of nieces and nephews, and other relatives and dear friends.
