Obituary:

Michael F. Blankenship, resident of Fishers, Indiana, has shuffled off this mortal coil on Thursday, October 18, 2018 surrounded by his Family. He passed as a result of Cancer and chemotherapy complications. Mike battled this final Cancer for six years and suffered through multiple treatment regiments and their side effects. "Every day here is a good day ," he would say.


Mike graduated as Valedictorian of Mount Hope High School's Class of 1960 in Mount Hope, Kansas and attended Kansas State University before enlisting in the US Navy. As a Naval Communications Specialist, Mike was stationed in Germany and Turkey. Upon his return from the service, Mike followed his parents to Indiana and began working for Indiana Bell. He proudly worked for the company 44 years.


Mike was a loving son, husband, brother, father, grandfather and uncle. He was preceded through the heavenly veil by his parents, Pete (Vernon J.) and Ruth (Baird) Blankenship. Mike leaves on the earth his devoted wife, Judy (Hall) Blankenship; brothers, John and David; children, Pamela (Timothy), Stephen (Sara), and Alisha (Thomas); and grandchildren, Sabrina, Savannah and Luke.


A visitation is planned for Tuesday, October 23 from 4-8 pm and a funeral service Wednesday, October 24th at 11:30 am at Geist Christian Church, 8550 Mud Creek Road, Indianapolis, Indiana 46256. Family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
