Delsa Dana Skinner was called home Oct. 18, 2018 by her loving Heavenly Father. She was 95 years old and was so grateful to be able to live in her home until the end.
Delsa and her twin brother Dale were born Aug. 10, 1923 in Thayne, WY to Isaac Franklin and Lella Howard Dana. She spent her childhood on Muddy String. At 9 months she contacted pneumonia, this was the beginning of life-long health problems associated with asthma. She had 8 brothers and sisters and was close with each of them and their families. She loved family reunions and spending time with family.
She graduated from SVHS, attended LDS Business College in Salt Lake. She worked at the Ogden Depot during WWII as an office manager with various responsibilities including working with Italian and German prisoners of war.
She married Leland J. Skinner March 26, 1945 in Paris, ID. They made their home in Thayne, WY, where their 7 children grew up and where everyone still calls home. She was a wonderful mother and very compassionate to everyone she knew. In her early days she owned a dress shop which later became a drug store, where she worked. She is also known for making the most beautiful wedding cakes.
Delsa had a strong testimony of her Savior, Jesus Christ and served in various callings in her ward and stake, blessing the lives of all who knew her. Delsa and Leland served in the Idaho Falls Temple as ordinance workers for 10 years. They also served a full-time mission at the Kane Chapel Historical Site in Kane, PA. She was also a member of the Thayne Variety Club, Daughters of the Utah Pioneers and Thayne Cemetery Board. She loved Thayne and history and with friends wrote the history, “A Bend in the River.” She also wrote many families histories for her family and Leland’s.
She is survived by: children: Valerie (Mark) Nelson, Lana (Randy) Jensen, Burnis (Lana) Skinner, DeLane (Julie) Skinner, Lance (Janadene) Skinner, Kaylene (Nolan) Simpson and Bart (Thom) Skinner, 66 Grandchildren, 121 Great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren, a sister Betty Kelly, sisters-in-law: Elaine Dana, Relda Skinner (Neilsen) Reed, Marilyn Skinner Heiner, and Nyla Skinner.
