At 7 a.m. December 29 1947, the entire valley was once again shadowed with sorrow, upon receiving word of the passing of Frank Dana.
Frank was the youngest son of the late Roswell and Melvina Davis Dana. He was born in Thayne, Wyoming, February 23, 1901, his entire life has been spent on or near the place of his birth.
He was married July 26, 1911 to Lella Howard of Woods Cross Utah and to this union were born eight children, five boys and three girls. One son, Marvin having passed away in childhood.
After his marriage he with his brothers Alma and Roy purchased his fathers ranch, where from there he broadened his real estate holdings, until previous to his passing he was able to make it possible for his sons to obtain good ranches. He was, indeed a good father, friend and neighbor. Honest and charitable, his belief in life was that charity began at home. This was portrayed when he with his wife Lella gave the attention he did to his aged mother, to his mother-in-law and the orphaned children of his brother Alma. Only those close to Frank and Lella knew the deeds of kindness spread by him. True he has left us, but the memory of Frank will still live with us.
He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife Lella, four sons Howard, Cecil, Charley and Dale all of Thayne, three daughters, Delsa Skinner of Thayne, Romann Bradshaw, Ogden and Betty Dana of Thayne. One brother R.R. Dana Thayne, three sisters, Eliza Wright, Thayne, Geneva Ivie Etna and Ella Folkman, Ogden. Twelve grandchildren, twelve nieces, Twenty-two nephews. besides a host of friends.
Prayer was offered in the home by Brother Emer Arbuckle of Woods Cross, Utah. Funeral services were held in the Thayne church, December 31, 1947 at 1:00 p.m. under the direction of Kenneth Coffman.
