HOLD PRIVATE RITES FOR DENNIE STOUT - HIGHLY RESPECTED RETIRED FARMER - Private grave side rites were conducted at 10:00 a.m. Friday in the Belle Center - Fairview Cemetery for Dennie E. Stout, 78, a life-long resident of this community. The Rev. Walter Scott, pastor of the United Presbyterian Church officiated. Mr. Stout's death occurred at 8:50 p.m. last Wednesday, May 14, in Hardin Memorial Hospital, Kenton, where he was admitted for medical treatment on Monday, May 5. It was at first thought Mr. Stout was suffering from a severe cold or influenza, but later his illness was diagnosed as spinal meningitis, following pneumonia. Because of the spinal meningitis, Mr. Stout was placed in isolation in the hospital and no public funeral services could be held.

The deceased was born in McDonald Township, Hardin County, on May 11, 1880, the son of Joseph and Mary Bell Stout. He was a retired farmer and attended the First Presbyterian Church. On [November 4, 1908], he was united in marriage with Florence Anna Greentree, whose death occurred on December 1, 1951. Remaining to mourn his death are two sons, Edison and John Ivan Stout, both of this community; one brother, Floyd Stout, Belle Center; two sisters, Mrs. Annie Liles of Kenton and Mrs. Thomas (Elsie) Corwin of Mt. Gilead; four granddaughters, one grandson, and two great-grandchildren. Serving as pallbearers were Wilbur and Joe Stout, Pearl Goff, Emerson Dillon, Marion Tremain and Alex Fulton. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Wagner of Mt. Gilead and Mr. and Mrs. Emmett Corwin of Pataskala attended the services.
