Erma passed away in Warrenton, Oregon on September 27th at the age of 93. She was born close to Falls City, Oregon on November 6, 1923 to William and Belle Teal. She lived there until she attended elementary and high school in Falls City.

She married Donald Ferguson on January 31, 1940. He died in 1964. Erma raised her four sons in Falls City making that her residence for many years. She moved into the family home to care for her elderly parents in 1970. In November 2016 she moved to Radiant Foster Care Home in Warrenton where her son Steve helped with her care.

Erma worked at the Oregon State Hospital as a Psychiatric Aide from 1954 to 1964. She was very active in her community having served on the city council for years, chairperson of Falls City Mushroom Festival, member of Eastern Star, member of Polk County Historical Society, volunteer at the local schools and took in foster care children for a number of years. She attended the United Methodist Church. She was known as "Grandma" throughout the area for her love of children and her community.

She is proceeded in death by her husband, parents, two brothers and four sisters. Survivors include her sons Duane (LaPine), Dean (Albany) Rick and wife Andi (LaPine) Steve and wife Cindy (Warrenton), nine grandchildren Joey, Mark, Mychal, Don, Nicole, Darin, Debbie, Emily, Laura, sixteen great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at the Dallas Mortuary Tribute Center on October 20th, 11:00 a.m. A luncheon will be provided at the Falls City Community Center to share stories and remembrances at 1:00. Private interment will be held at Dallas Cemetery. Contributions may be made to the Falls City Fire Association in Erma's name.
