John Lewis McCoy, 86, passed away peacefully in Hearthstone Health Campus in Bloomington, IN on September 25, 2018 with his family by his side. John was born and raised in Brown County, living there until he moved to Kentucky in 1978 then moving to Florida in the early 1980's. He was born on May 12, 1932, the son of Lewis and Millie (Collins) McCoy.

When John finished high school he was drafted in the U. S. Army, serving in the Korean War. His experience with the tanks in the Army led to his career in construction and heavy equipment.

John was the owner of McCoy Construction. He loved working with heavy equipment, helping build lakes and ponds in Brown County, plowing out snowy driveways for friends and family and of course, working many construction jobs in the state of Indiana. John also enjoyed gardening, reading and his favorite hobby was picking on people to make them smile.

John is survived by his loving wife of 29 years Doris (Ankrum) McCoy, two sons; Rick McCoy and Randy McCoy, his daughter; Lorinda (Yvonne) Dudzik, his sister; Olive Harden, and three step-children; Danny Williams, Penny Karns and Sheryl Stiddon. He was preceded in death by his sister Mary Young and brother Floyd McCoy.

Visitation for John will be held on Monday, October 1, 2018 from 11:00 a.m. until time of Service at 1:00 p.m. in Bond-Mitchell Funeral Home, 1682 State Rd. 135 North, Nashville, Indiana 47448. Burial will be in Bear Creek Cemetery with the Brown County Honor Guard and the U.S. Army performing military rights.
