Edward Maguder Tutwiler,Sr. Born: October 13, 1846, Palmyra, Fluvanna County, Virginia. VMI class of 1867, he fought as a cadet at the Battle of Newmarket. Marriage (1): Mary Fendley Jeffray on April 11, 1876 in Crittenden, Grant County, Kentucky Marriage (2): Margaret Lee Chewning on July 11, 1887 in Charlottesville,Virginia. Died: April 19, 1926 at age 79 Edward died at sea.

Note that the photo of the tall memorial stone is the family stone at Oak Hill Cemetery in downtown Birmingham. He is not ,and never was, buried there.
