Virginia Ellen Bovill was born November 19, 1930 in Union County, South Dakota to parents Charles and Opal (Wilson) Smith. She entered into death September 26, 2018 at the age of 87 years.

She attended school in Beresford. Virginia married Glen “Mike” Bovill on December 17, 1947. They farmed in the Beresford area until 1956 and then moved to California for eight months. After returning to Beresford, Virginia over the years worked at Berts Lounge, the Beresford Municipal Liquor Store and the Beresford Golf Course where she developed many friendships.

Virginia was a member of the Beresford Zion United Methodist Church. She became a member of the VFW Auxiliary in 1953 and eventually a 65-year life member; Virginia was very active and held many offices including serving as VFW Auxiliary President from 1967-1968. She loved to play golf, to bowl, and get together with friends to play bridge.

Her parents, husband Mike, sister Dorothy Jacobson, brother Arnold Smith and his wife Florence, infant brother Donald, grandson Michael and great-granddaughter Bailey preceded her in death.

Those who survive are two sons, Danny (Cindy) Bovill of Illinois and Calvin Bovill of Sioux Falls; daughter, Michele (Bill) Murphy of Sioux City; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Virginia will be 11AM Saturday, September 29, 2018 at Beresford Zion United Methodist Church with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at St. Peter Cemetery in rural Beresford.
