Pauline J. Nesbitt, 73, of North East, died Thursday, March 20, 1997, of cancer in her home.

She was born Jan. 24, 1924, in Virginia, a daughter of the late Lee Johnson and Isabelle Murray Johnson.

Mrs. Nesbitt retired from the Cecil County Board of Education in 1986. She was an educational aide, a former Girl Scout leader in North East and a member of State Line Baptist Church in Calvert. She lived most of her life in Cecil County.

She is survived by her husband, Ellis C. Nesbitt of North East; a son, Ellis C. Nesbitt, Jr. of Quarryville, Pa.; a daughter, Patricia J. Reeves of North East; a son, Ernest Johnson of Phoenix, Ariz., a sister, Jeanne Stoner of Elkton; a brother, John Johnson of Colora; and three grandchildren.

The funeral will be today at 2 p.m. in the R. T. Foard Funeral Home, 111 S. Queen St., Rising Sun, with Pastor Gary Gilbert of State Line Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in Rose Bank Cemetery, Calvert.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to Northern Chesapeake Hospice Foundation, c/o R. T. Foard Funeral Home, P.O. Box 248, Rising Sun 21911.
