Howard A. Prahl, 54, of route 1, Kiel, was killed during a logging operation in a swamp near Cedar Lake this morning when his tractor toppled backward on a hill. Prahl was pinned under the steering wheel of the machine.
A son-in-law, Dr. Gerald Griffith of Plymouth, was with him at the time and ran for help as soon as the accident occurred. Prahl was dead when help arrived.
The deceased was born at London, Wis., on Aug. 6, 1897, the son of Mr. and Mrs. August Prahl. On Nov. 10, 1923, he married Miss Hilma Voland of Schleswig. Except for a short residence at Kiel, the couple lived in the town of Schleswig.
Survivors include: his wife; a son, Kenneth; a daughter, Mrs. Gerald (Marilyn) Griffith of Milwaukee, three grandchildren; his parents in Kiel; and four sisters, Mrs. August Schmidt of Chilton, Mrs. Milton Christel of Kiel, Mrs. Gerald Norman of Milwaukee, and Mrs. Ferdinand Aschenbach of Millersville.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at the Meiselwitz Funeral Home, Kiel. The Rev. E. L. Worthman will officiate, and burial will be made in Rockville cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 2 p.m. Sunday until the time of services.
