Prominent Hume Man Dead - Ira Anderson, a prominent resident of Hume died in Mercy hospital in Ft. Scott, Kas. last Thursday. Ira Oliver, son of John and Martha Olive Anderson, was born near Sprague, Aug. 3, 1885. He passed away Nov. 22, 1956, at the age of 71 years, 3 months and 19 days. Oct. 11, 1906, at Ft. Scott, Kas., he was united in marriage to Anna L. Rainey, who preceded him in death. Dec. 17, 1953. Mr. Anderson lived his entire lifetime in the Sprague and Hume communities. He was a member of the Christian Church. Surviving are four sons, E. J. Anderson, St. Louis, Merle and Chas. W. Anderson, Hume and Kenneth Anderson, of the United States Army in Korea; four daughters, Mrs. Irene Caskey and Virginia Finley, of Hume; Mrs. Ruby Billingsley, Rich Hill and Mrs. Betty Barker, Ft. Scott, Kas.; and two sisters, Mrs. Mattie Chadwick, Shadow Water, Kas., and Mrs. Nellie Bellows, Lemon Grove, Calif. Funeral services were held Sunday in Hume Christian church, conducted by Rev. Earl Bingham. Burial was made in the Hume cemetery.
