Jean F. George of Hamburg, New York died Tuesday, September 18, 2018 at Mercy Hospital in Buffalo at the age of 98.

She was born February 21, 1920 in Rochester, New York a daughter of the late John and Josephine (Vogt) Beiter. She was a past member of St. Patrick's Church in Java Center as well as a member of the Ladies of Charity. She was also a Eucharistic minister and lector for St. Patrick's. She was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society at St. Mary's in Strykersville but was most recently a member of the St. Mary's Church in Arcade.

She was a bookkeeper for 30 years for Conroy Motors in Java Center where she had worked until she was 80. Prior to Conroy's she had worked as a bookkeeper for Reisdorf Brothers in North Java for 20+ years.

Her husband, Bernard George, who she married October 16, 1948 in Rochester, passed away in 1984.

She is survived by her children: Jerry (Nancy) George of Arcade, Peggy (Ron) McCormick of Java Center, Alan (Jackie) George of Holland; her sister-in-law: Teresa Berwanger of Warsaw; also survived by 12 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and a beloved companion, John Carr of Hamburg.

She is preceded in death by her husband, her children: Kathy and Johnny George; one sister, four brothers and a great-grandson.

Friends may call Thursday, September 20, 2018 from 4-8 PM at the W.S. Davis Funeral Home, 358 Main St., Arcade. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, September 21, 2018 at 11 AM at St. Mary's Church, 417 W. Main St., Arcade. Interment will be held in St. Mary's Cemetery, Strykersville.
