Richard S. Carty, age 73, of Dover, DE, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 7, 2018 surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Wilmington, DE, Richard lived most of his life in Odessa, Middletown, Townsend and Dover. He attended Middletown High School and served in the Army shortly thereafter. He later worked for many years for Greggo & Ferrara assisting in the construction of many of Delaware’s major highways. Richard loved to fish, drink coffee with his many friends, and enjoyed visiting his family, neighbors and friends and assisting them with yardwork or home improvement projects.
He is predeceased by parents, Ralph B. Carty, Sr. and Mildred G. Carty, wife, Charlotte L. Carty, his brother Ralph B. Carty Jr., and sisters Jean C. Birch and Mary Virginia Volka.
He is survived by his brother Harold G. Carty and wife, Crin, sister Marjorie C. Ciunci, and sister-in-law Mary Edna Carty; daughter Lori Hegman and husband Rod and grandson Austin; and granddaughter Amber Ford and great-granddaughter Devan Ford; and numerous beloved nephews and nieces.
A memorial service will be held at 1PM on Tuesday, September 25, 2018, at Daniels & Hutchison Funeral Home, 212 N. Broad Street, Middletown, DE. Family and friends may call between noon and 1PM. Interment will follow at Odd Fellows Cemetery, 420 S DuPont Blvd, Smyrna, DE.
