Son of Rev Thomas Baldwin Goble and his 2nd wife Martha Gorrel

J.W. Goble (this would be Joseph Whitlock Goble was a native of Indiana, born near Shelbyville, but moved with his parents to Iowa, finally locating in Gentry Co. MO where they purchased land. Mrs. Goble was born and reared in Gentry County. She and her husband had the following children: Harvey Goble, who married Florence Thrasher and who died in Oklahoma at the age of forty years; Roy Bert Goble who married Nellie Heath and who, together with two children Herbert and Clifford all died with the flu within four days of one another in October, 1918; a third child Bertha Ellen is being reared by Mr. and Mrs. J.E. Goble; Belva Ann Goble, the wife of Charles Pettit of Butler Twp; Walter C Goble who died with the flu in South Dakota Oct 17, 1918, his widow and three children Curtis, Olin and Azalee live in Butler Twp; and Homer Goble of Butler Twp who married Esta Salmon and who have two children, Vonetha and Vivera.. (Further in Harrison County History it said that Josiah.E. Goble (who took in and raised Nellie (Heath) Gobles only surviving child Bertha Ellen, 1 yr old) was the efficient and enterprising manager of the Matkins Mercantile Company of Matkins, MO, a native of Butler Township, Harrison County born Nov 20 1882, the son of John Whitlock and Mary (Jeffries) Goble. J.E. Goble spent his boyhood days in Oklahoma and in this Harrison County, MO attending school in both places. He entered the mercantile business in Oklahoma when a young man and remained there for one year, then deciding to accept the position as manager for the Thomas store at Matkins, holding this place for eight years, when he became manager for Scott and Morgan, which position he now very acceptably fills. This is a general store carrying dry goods, groceries, hardware and shoes and they also purchase country produce of all kinds. Mr. J.E. Goble married Feb 7 1909 Leona Shaughnessy, a daughter of Thomas and Elizabeth (Brown) Shaughnessy. J.E. Goble and his wife had three children of their own: Edna, Alvin and Goldie.
