Mahlon C. Gilbar, 88, of Ashuelot Street died Saturday evening at Cheshire Medical Center in Keene. He was born Feb. 16, 1904, in Enosburg Falls, Vt., the son of Clarence and Nellie Gilbar. He attended Richford, Vt., schools and was a former resident of Richford and Wilmington, Vt. He had made his home in Winchester since 1963. Mr. Gilbar had operated a farm in Richford and later was employed at New England Box Shop in Winchester for many years. His interests included fishing and the outdoors. He was married to the former Hilda Wright, who died in 1960. On July 25, 1964, he married the former Mildred Whitcomb, who survives. Besides his wife of Winchester, survivors include: a son, Richard A. Lahue of Hinsdale; a sister, Phyllis Poupart of Fort Myers, Fla.; and two grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at O'Connor Funeral Home, 42 Parker St. Burial will be in the family lot in Riverview Cemetery in Wilmington. Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday from 10 to 11 a.m.
