Wife: Lucretia "Lucy" Lanier, Born: born 1743, in Brunswick Co, VA, Married: about 1756, Died: 1832-3 in Mecklenburg Co, VA; her will was probated 3/18/1833. Parents: Benjamin Lanier and Elizabeth (Warren??). See their Lanier page.

Husband: Isham Malone

In Mecklenburg Co, VA on the south side of Bellfield Road between LaCrosse and Canaan Church, there is a slab with the names and dates of their children. Ross Malone tells us that in the very first US census, Isham is listed as having 14 white people in his household as well as 9 Blacks. Isham freed some of his slaves in 1790. In his will, he left land, house, mill, slaves. He acted as trustee for Penelope Taylor's prenuptial for her marriage to his father Drury.

1. Benjamin Malone, born 11/6/1756, named after his grandfather Bejamin B. Lanier. Became a Lt. of Militia. 9/13/1779. At his father's death, was named guardian of his younger siblings: Drury, Susannah, Isham, Sally, Rebecca, John and Thomas. He had a child by a mulatto slave, Susan Stuart; the child was Alexander John Malone and was named in his uncle Isham's will. Died.1824

2. Mary Malone, born 2/28/1760. Married before 1794 Thomas Roberts. Died 1822

3. Elizabeth "Lizzy" Malone, born 2/26/1762 in Mecklenburg Co, VA. Married John Ellis Shell, son of William and Amelia Ellis Shell, Hardy Jones, security (source: The Marriage Bonds of Mecklenburg County, VA 1765-1810," listed and indexed by Stratton Nottingham, Onancock, VA, 1928, p. 46). See their page. She died 3/29/1847, Newton Co, GA

4. Sophia Malone, born ca 1765, VA. Married 12/4/1793 to Zachariah Hall Noted in Chancery court records as daughter of Isham Malone.

5. Lucy Malone, born 9/9/1768. Unmarried as of 1794. Died 12/1829.

6. Wynne Malone, born before 1770 in Mecklenburg Co, VA. Married Jane Sanders (b. Brunswick Co, VA). Jane had become a Methodist in Virginia. Their known children: Jones Malone (b. 1789 in VA, m-1st: in 5/1809 according to marriage bond, Jean Bishop, daughter of William and Rebecca Bishop; m-2nd: Nancy -?; m-3rd: Agnes -?), Elizabeth Malone (m. Richard Wood), Lucy Malone (m. Isaac Wood, brother of Richard). An 1820 census shows Wynne at home with 5 adult women and eight children under 16. Wynne and Jane are remembered as the first Malones into Kentucky. Wynne and Jane moved to Barren Co, KY. See their page.

10. Isham Malone, Jr., born 4/21/1777. Died 8/24/1816, will in Richmond Co, GA.

11. Sarah Malone, born 7/21/1779. Married 1/10/1810 in Mecklenburg Co, VA, to Thomas Nance. Died 4/13/1822.

12. Rebecca Malone, born 3/16/1782. Married to Rueben Booth, grandson of George Booth. Their children: Thomas Harper Booth, Mary Caroline Gilliam Booth, Maria Susan Booth, Isham Malone Booth. Died 6/1824

13. John Malone, born 11/21/1784. Married Ann "Nancy" Glasscock, daughter of Gen. Thomas and Mary Bacon Glasscock. Their daughter: Mary Agnes Malone.

14. Thomas L. Malone, born 11/12/1786. Left money in his brother Isham's will. Died 10/25/1816.

15. Isaac Malone. Married-1st: Ann C. Courtney. Married-2nd: Lucy Lowberry on 3/22-4/1795. Named in his father's estate papers.
