Karl Thredgold Moore
Karl Thredgold Moore, 93, passed away on July 19, 2018 in the home he built in Ogden, Utah. He was born on November 13, 1924 in the family home on Moore’s Lane. He was the son of William Byron Moore and Myrtle Thredgold and brother to Byron T. Moore, Dorothea Kidman, Lois Maddock, Melba Adams, Donna Turley, Wilma Ferrin and Nellie Moore.
He attended Ogden City Schools and graduated from Ogden High School. He honorably served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the European Theater and was one of those in the “Greatest Generation.”
He married Shirley Hardman in the Salt Lake LDS Temple and they are the parents of Dennis L. (Faye) Moore, Tamra (Brent) Ellis, Randy L. (Emma) Moore, JaNelle Garner, Gregg L. (Denise) Moore, Brad L. (Patty) Moore, Melanie (Boomer) Benson, Danene (Russ) Polson, Stacy (Glen) Paskett. There are 32 grandchildren and 88 great-grandchildren. Family was very important to dad and he worked constantly, providing for our every need.
Dad was a burial vault engineer and during the summer, as we were growing up, we enjoyed picnics with him in numerous cemeteries. Dad was faithful in his church service as a dedicated home teacher, bishopric counselor and Gospel Doctrine teacher. Mom and Dad served a mission together in Adelaide, Australia and while there he was able to visit his mother’s family home.
Dad loved sports and actively participated in volleyball, basketball, softball and horseshoes. He knew the rules and skills required for each and especially enjoyed a game well played. Dad grew a bounty of fruits and vegetables for his family in a nearly weed free environment. He as a master of his garden which is now suffering due to the lack of his TLC.
We as a family will meet on Friday, July 27th at Myers Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd., in Ogden and invite you to join us from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, July 28th at the Lorin Farr Stake Center, 480 E. 7th Street, Ogden at 12:00 p.m. with a viewing from 11 to 11:45 a.m. Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Park where military honors will be accorded.
The family would like to thank the Hospice workers who helped us with dad’s care, especially Wendy, Rhonda and Amber who saw to his every need, listened to his stories and enjoyed his quick wit and sense of humor.
