Salvatore (Sam) Abbadi, 97, of East Syracuse, went home to the Lord Monday morning. Born in Sicily, Sam served in the Italian Armed Forces. He had been an employee of Prestolite Electric Corporation, retiring in 1983 after 30 years. He was predeceased by his wife, Lena; brother, Joseph; daughter Elizabeth LaMacchia and granddaughter, Annemarie Wagner. Sam is survived by his daughters, Susanne Kennedy of Liverpool and Maryanne Wagner of East Syracuse; grandchildren Shana (Daniel) Salchow, Adrian Wagner, Jason LaMacchia, Shelyagh Kennedy and Michael LaMacchia; three great grandchildren; several, nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, July 25th, 11:00am at St. Matthew's Church, 229 W. Yates Street, East Syracuse, NY. Entombment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Dewitt. Calling hours will be held Wednesday prior to the Mass, 10:00am-11:00am, at the church. Contributions may be made in Salvatore's name to Sunnyside Care Center, 7000 Collamer Road, East Syracuse, 13057.
