Helen was married to Robert "Bob" Harrington on July 18, 1933, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, by a Justice of the Peace. She wore a pale blue dress with a long heavy riding coat, a gray pillbox hat with a blue tassel, and gray two-toned gunmetal shoes. They had bought their wedding rings two years before! She met him in 1931 in college in his hometown of Oneonta, N.Y., where he played in local bands, working all the college dances. He played the saxophone and did all the musical arrangements. Helen taught school in Johnstown, N.Y. in 1932.

She and Bob had one child, son Jon Harrington, born August 28, 1938.

They loved to travel, spending vacation times on Cape Cod, Massachusetts, as well as at Myrtle Beach and Daytona Beach, Florida.

Helen and Bob moved to Montreal in 1937, buying a small cottage in Verdun where they lived for 50 years. When Bob got ill later in life, their son moved them to Toronto, where he lived and worked. They lived in Heritage Square, and had a very long and happy marriage.
