Marian Louise Walker Palmer died at 6:07 p.m., Wednesday, June 27, 2018 at Danville Care Center.Born November 12, 1929 in Burlington, Iowa, to Frank and Mathilda (Wuellner) Walker, she was the sixth child of ten. She married William Earl Palmer in Galesburg, Illinois August 30, 1958. He preceded her in death on March 7, 1995.Marian worked at Northwestern Bell retiring in 1982 with 36 1/2 years of service and at Burlington Community School District as a school bus driver retiring in 2003 after 22 1/2 years of service. She also worked part time at the Pop Shoppe and Swift Shop in Burlington. She drove a limo for a short time, and was a Justice of the Peace with her husband, Bill, in Beaverdale. She volunteered for several years at Burlington Steamboat Days. She was a member of St Luke's United Church of Christ, Telephone Pioneers, and the Moose Lodge.She loved traveling and going on cruises and gave the love of travel to her daughter when they both flew to Peru in 1972 to visit her cousin, Joan Bendezu and family. One of her last trips was to China with Trailways. She loved working in her yard cutting grass and tending to her flowers. She loved to dance and would go out with her good friend, Harold Nyberg, and dance at the Tender Trap. Marian also had many collections that came from her brother, Verne's store, The Glass Impression, in Grayslake, Illinois. Marian was proud of where she came from and what she had done with her life.She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brothers, Verne and Loren Walker, sister, Doris Westlake, four nephews and special friend Harold Nyberg.
