Loren H. Walker, 76, of Burlington, died at 8:37 a.m. Sunday, March 12, 2000 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City.
Born Dec. 24, 1923 in Burlington, he was the son of Frank and Matilda Wuellner Walker. On Sept. 26, 1946 he married Audry B. Hartman in Burlington.
Mr. Walker was owner and operator of Coast to Coast TV Service. He was a graduate of Burlington High School and a World War II Army veteran, where he fought in the Battle of the Bulge.
He was a member of Southeastern Community College Blackhawk Booster Club, St. Luke United Church of Christ, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10102, the Moose Lodge, the American Legion, FOE and the 80th Division Veterans Association. He was a Boy Scout leader for several years and a volunteer at Steamboat Days.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Terry and Dale Walker, both of Burlington; one daughter Lorraine Jones of Burlington; five grandchildren; three brothers, Verne Walker of Grayslake, Ill., and Earl and Robert Walker, both of Broken Arrow, Okla.; and Five sisters, Alice Johnson of Broken Arrow, Virginia Cook and Marian Palmer, both of Burlington, and Phyllis Shultz of Tulsa, Okla.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.
Visitation will begin at 8 a.m. today in Lunning Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m.
The funeral for Mr. Walker will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in Lunning Chapel, with the Rev. Vicki Engelmann officiating. Burial with military rites by VFW Posts 10102 and 9162 will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
There will be a memorial service at 7:30 p.m. Monday at SCC AgriSports Arena. Fans and friends are welcome.
