orothy Mable Bruce Jarrell, age 82, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, June 9th, 2017. She was a resident of Lake Caroline, Virginia. She loved to dance, sing, and work in her flower gardens. She sang in the church choir and taught Sunday School for many years. Her smile would light up a room. Dot, as she was known to everyone, sold World Book Encyclopedias and serviced the schools in several local counties for many years. She was greatly loved by her family and will be missed by all who knew her. Dot was one of 15 children and is survived by her loving spouse of 67 years, James "Al" Jarrell; sons, Jim Jarrell (Joanne), Larry Jarrell (B-Mae), and Keith Jarrell (Kay); daughter, Lori Thomas (Cyr); 13 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her two sisters, Virginia and Evelyn (Tony); and brother, Bobby (Barbara); along with numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank all staff and volunteers of the Ashland Nursing Home, especially Tangee Childs. The family will receive friends on Monday, June 12th, 2017 from 6-8 PM at Nelsen Funeral Home - Reid Chapel, 412 S. Washington Highway, Ashland, VA 23005. A funeral service will be held, Tuesday, June 13th at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Signal Hill. Online condolences may be conveyed to the family at www.nelsenashland.com.
