James M. Brister Buried at Bogue Chitto
James Martin Brister, 89 years of age, beloved resident of Bogue Chitto, died yesterday in a local hospital after an illness of one week. Mr. Brister, know as the "Grand Old Man of Lincoln County," was held in high esteem by hundreds of persons acquired through many years of service in his native county.
Mr. Brister was the father of Mrs. N. R. Currie, of Jackson, and was well known in the Capital City. In addition to Mrs. Currie, several other sons and daughters, nephews and nieces survive.
Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon from the Bogue Chitto Baptist church where he worshipped for many years. His nephews will be active pall bearers, and the honorary bearers will include Dr. Julius Crisler of Jackson, H. C. Applewhite and Dr. C. W. Crisler, both of Brookhaven. -- Clarion Ledger, May 26th
