Evelyn married Lawton Walsh on November 9, 1947, and they had a wonderful life together in Baton Rouge, Louisiana for 47 years filled with family and many friends. After Lawton’s death in 1991, Evelyn moved to Katy, Texas in 1993 to be closer to her daughter, grandchildren and her Texas family. Evelyn was fiercely independent and spent her years in Texas living alone, driving her own car, traveling with friends, attending Rockets and Astro games, bowling, and volunteering to deliver meals in the Katy area. Evelyn was an incredibly caring and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, daughter, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, and friend to many in Texas and Louisiana. She was lovingly known as Mom, Granny, GG, Aunt Evelyn, Mrs. Walsh, Na Na, and Big Momma. Evelyn was a devoted member of Church of the Way Presbyterian in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and New Hope Presbyterian Church in Katy, Texas.
The family wishes to thank the staff of the Village of the Heights for showing kindness and care during the time she lived there. A sincere thank you and appreciation to Seasons Hospice.
In lieu of customary remembrances, memorial contributions in memory of Evelyn may be directed to the Blue Bird Circle (615 West Alabama Houston, Texas 77006).
