Francis is the son of Michael Alwine and Sarah Anna Felty. His wife Isabella M. Foller is buried next to him. His brother Edward is also buried in this cemetery as well as his mother but I have been unable to locate their graves.
Francis Xavier "Frank" Alwine was a Civil War veteran, who served at the rank of private with Co. I, 205th Pa Inf, enlisting Hampton Township, Adams County, August 27, 1864, and mustering out honorably June 2, 1865. A farmer by trade when he enlisted, he stood 5' 7" tall and had dark hair and black eyes.His birth & baptism are recorded at The Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Conewago Chapel as 2/2/1846 & 2/3/1846 respectively He married Isabella Foller (Fowler),b.7/13/1848 d.1/1/1891,on December 29, 1868, and fathered Vincent Bernard (b. 10/03/1869), Charles F., Victor Ambrose (b. 07/22/1873), Frederick Lewis (b. 08/27/1875),Sarah Anna Maria(b.6/1/ 1880), William (b. 12/26/1882),Mary,Anna Catherine(5/23/1885)and Josephine Margarita (b.12/29/1890).

Frank Alwine, a carpenter, who fell from a scaffold six weeks ago, died in the York Hospital.
