Charles W. Duffee, 88, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. C. M. Long, 1437 Buffalo Street, after a long illness. He was bornin Butler February 24, 1845.
For the greater part of his life he lived in Oil City. Three years ago he moved to Franklin to live with his daughter, Mrs. Long. He was a merchant and auctioneer for many years, and has a wide acquaintance in Oil City and Franklin. He was one of the oldest members of Oil City Lodge 589 Odd Fellows, having joined 59 years ago.
He married Clementine Beck, who died a number of years ago.
Surviving are his daughter, Mrs. Long; 5 sons, N. Eugene Duffee, Polk, Lovell L. Duffee of Pittsburgh, Weller W. Duffee of Oil City, Frank E. Duffee of Nickleville, and Clyde D. Duffee of Oil City; 11 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 pm Friday at the home of Mrs. C. M. Long, with Rev. Edward Schultz of Oil City, and Rev. Dr. H. H. Barr of Franklin officiating. The Oil City Lodge IOOF will have charge. Interment will be in Grove Hill Cemetery, Oil City.
