Richard “Dick” Koehler, age 79, of Berlin formerly of Plainfield, passed away peacefully, Saturday evening, March 31, 2018 at Patriot Place in Berlin.

Richard (Dick) was born to the late Erich Koehler and Barbara Hollman in Friendship, WI on Oct 23, 1938. He married Lucille Olkiewicz on Aug 18, 1956. He was in the class of 1957 at Tri-County Area Schools.

Richard and Lucille farmed the first year of their marriage, and then he worked for the Plainfield Creamery until buying the Morning Glory Dairy business from them, running it for 15 yrs. After selling the business, Dick worked for the Village of Plainfield for almost 23 yrs. He was famous for his “dump” finds. After leaving that position, he worked for Seneca Foods for approximately 20 yrs. He loved being in the woods cutting firewood, which he did into his late 70’s. Dick was a member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church of Plainfield.

Richard is survived by daughter Debra (James) Goodyear, Berlin; son Todd (Elizabeth) Koehler, New York; seven grandchildren, Daniel (Meagan) Buehler, Megan (Andrew) Reetz Tully, Brittany (Christopher) Reetz Esselman, Erich Koehler, Katherine Koehler, Kristofor (Robyn) Moore, Brandon (Janice) Moore,; five great grandchildren, Felicity Moore, Kase Moore, Devin Buehler, Mason Buehler, Jaren Buehler; son-in-law David Moore, Oklahoma; four sisters, Barbara Jean (Robert) Meyers, Elisabeth Kappel, Joan (Ronnie) Hunter, and Karen (Charles) Church. Further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Lucille on Dec 31, 2017, daughter Vicki Moore in 2004 and sister, Dorothy Bates in 2014.

All donations will be given to Heartland Hospice and Patriot Place Assisted Living of Berlin in memory of Richard and Lucille’s excellent care in their last months of life.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul Catholic Church, Plainfield with Rev. Andrew Kurz officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. Monday, April 9, 2018 at the Stahl Funeral Home and from 9:30 a.m. Tuesday until the time of services at the church.
