B. E. Allen Died Friday At 89 Years

Blanchard Elroy Allen, 89, former president of the American Bisque Co. of Williamstown for 25 years, died Friday in the Marietta Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Allen, who retired from his position several years ago, moved to Williamstown in 1922 from East Liverpool where he had resided for 35 years.

Prior to his presidency at the American Bisque Co., he was one of the founders of the Sterling China Co. at Wellsville, and was also a vice-president on the King-Eels Hardware Co.

He was born Nov. 21, 1864, in Meigs county, near Portland, a son of the late Thomas G. and Louise White Allen. On Dec. 1, 1888, he was married to Imogene Price Allen, who survives. Mr. and Mrs. Allen celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary in December.

Surviving in addition to his widow are one son, A. Neal Allen of Williamstown; one brother, Dennis Allen of Columbus; one sister, Mrs. John Sandburn of Columbus; and four grandchildren, jean Louise Allen, a student at West Virginia Wesleyan, and Charles, Carol Ann, and Eleanor Jo Allen.

Funeral services will be held today at 2 p.m. from the Hood funeral home with Dr. Hugh Cummings of the Williamstown First Methodist church officiating. Interment will be in Knights of Pythias cemetery in Williamstown.
