SHOREHAM, VT. - Ida Bessie (Durkee) Cyr, age 73, of Shoreham, passed away on Thursday, March 22nd 2018 at her home.
Mrs. Cyr was born on August 7th 1944 in Proctor, Vt., she was the daughter of Leon Jacobs Jr. and Genevieve Irene (Ash) Durkee.
She grew up in Salisbury, Vt. where she received her early education.
She graduated from Fair Haven High School.
She received her Registered Nurse's diploma from Castleton College.
Following graduation, she had worked at the Rutland Hospital in Rutland, Vt., as an R.N. in the Operating Room for 10 years.
She married David Martin Cyr on June 15th 1963 in Orwell, Vermont.
She later worked at Kampersville at Lake Dunmore in Salisbury, Vt. for 33 years. She was forced to retire due to illness in 2012.
She was predeceased by her husband; David Martin Cyr on November 6th 2013, her parents; her father Leon Jacobs Jr. on September 14th 1944 and her mother Genevieve Durkee on October 31st 1993, stepfather; Edgar N. Durkee on August 13th 1985, one brother; Arthur "Art" Allen Durkee on July 13th 2008, and two sisters; Margaret "Pat" Edith (Durkee) Sturtevant on April 21st 2008, and Avis Leno.
A private graveside committal service and burial will take place at a later date at the Brookside Cemetery in Leicester, Vt.
