Lee D. Rathbun, 90, of Streator, passed away Saturday March 10, 2018 with his family by his side.
Funeral services for Lee Rathbun will be at 1 p.m. Thursday March 15, 2018 at the Elias Funeral Home. Burial with full military rites will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, serving as pallbearers will be his grandchildren. A visitation for Lee Rathbun will be from 10 - 1 p.m. at the Elias Funeral Home.

Born February 5, 1928 in Streator, IL, he was the son of Edward and Ethel (Wonders) Rathbun, he married Jennie Latino September 4, 1948.

He is survived by his wife Jennie of Streator, children Mary (David) Samp of Rochelle, IL, Diane Wolf of Streator, Sandra (Dennis) Gass of Green Valley, AZ, Edward (Rose) Rathbun of Ponca City, OK, David (Susie) Rathbun of Streator and Ronald (Cathy) Rathbun of Streator, 21 grandchildren more great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren than Lee could count and nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, sisters Vera Sowerby, Verna Tucker, Ora Greene, Maxine Casey and a brother Roy Rathbun.

Lee attended local grade schools and graduated from Streator Township High School in 1947, he served in the United States Navy, while in the Navy, he served on the USS Rockingham, USS Amsterdam and USS Shangri-La, he worked for Commonwealth Edison for several years retiring in 1983, after retirement Lee enjoyed building and remodeling many houses in Streator, he opened the Landmark Restaurant and 4-Corners Restaurant, he loved Friday night football at Streator where he ran the chains, he was the family card shark where he never lost a game, he was a member of the Central Church of Christ.
