Polly Jane Counts was the daughter of Joseph & Didama Hay Counts. She married 28 May 1902 to Ambrose Wilson Edwards and they were the parents of seven children.

"Virginia Mountaineer", Grundy, VA Thurs 18 Feb 1960 - Polly Jane Edwards of Birchleaf Dies - Funeral services were held Tuesday for Polly Jane Edwards, 73 or Birchleaf, who died at the hospital here last Saturday evening. She had been ill only a short while. Services were held at the Skillet Branch Baptist Baptist Church, and burial was in the family cemetery. Grundy Funeral home was in charge of arrangments. Surviving are her husband, A. W. Edwards; six son, Ervie, Linden and Ora Edwards, all of Birchleaf, Carlos Edwards of Abingdon, Earl Edwards of Clintwood, Teddy Edwards of McClure; one daughter, Mrs. Velva Hay of Abingdon; one sister, Mrs. Sally Counts of Carrie; four brothers, A. W. Counts of Pensacola, FL, Rufus and Jennings Counts of Haysi and Holly Counts of Carrie.
