In 1900, 21 year old Elizabeth had been married to Noah T Counts for two years and living with them is their one year-old , Wade Garvin Counts, in Dickenson County Sandlick district.

It appears that Elizabeth and husband, Noah T Counts lived separately in 1910. According to the EJ Sutherland book on the Counts clan, Noah earned his medical degree from the medical college of Virginia at Richmond in 1907, and practiced several years at Cleveland in Russell County.

Living with Elizabeth's husband Dr. Noah Tilden Counts in Cleveland VA were his children, Wade, 11, Arvil B. 8 and Noah Willard, 5. His daughters, Virginia and Lena were born in 1/1907 and 8/1910 respectively. Perhaps he had the boys and she had the girls. however, I find it odd that in the list of occupations as a supposed practicing physician that there would be nothing listed.

In 1918 on his World War I draft registration, Dr. Noah T. indicates he is married to Elizabeth Counts but he is already living in Cocoa Beach Florida while she is living in Nancy, Dickenson County Virginia.

The 1920 census for Sandlick Dickenson County virginia reveals 41-year-old Elizabeth as the head of the house where she is listed as married but the husband is not in the house. She is a dressmaker. Living with her are their four children, Wade Garvin 20, Willard, 15, Virginia 12 and Lena 9. They live on lick Creek Road.

The 1930 census For Sandlick Dickinson county on Frying Pan Creek, reveals only 18-year-old Lena living with her and Elizabeth is now divorced. By early of the next year, 1931, Elizabeth would be living alone as her daughter would be getting married. Elizabeth first married at 18 yrs of age.

In 1950, 71 year old Elizabeth, would be again living with daughter Lena, Lena's husband, and "Betty's" grandchildren, in Dickenson County, Virginia on Highway 64/Road 658. Widowed 82 year old Russell Powers (George's father) lived with them as well. Their grandchildren were: Virginia, 18, Harold, 16, Russell 11, Carolyn 4 and Danny 2. Elizabeth is marked as widowed even though she's divorced, and her ex-husband is still alive.

On Elizabeth's 1957 death certificate, she had gone to Bristol Memorial Hospital in Tennessee where she died of lymphatic carcinoma. It is unknown if the informant did not know her marital status, but she is listed as widowed rather than as divorced.
