Mike was the son of Burl and Maryann Shepard of Plainview, Texas. He grew up in Plainview and graduated from Plainview High School. He is survived by his Mother, Maryann Shepard, his wife Sally Shepard of Universal City, Texas, his daughters, Brandi Mack of Auburn, N.Y., Carrie Shepard of Universal City, his grandson Peter Epperson III of Auburn, N.Y., his granddaughter Kaitlin Epperson of Universal City, Texas and three great-grandchildren, his sisters Linda Langston of Odessa, Texas, Carolyn Bradley of Plainview, and Pam Seamands of Comanche, Texas.

He was retired from the USAF after 24 years of service. He worked at Boeing before beginning his Civil Service career at Randolph Air Force Base for the last seven years.

He was known to his family and friends as a patriot, strong man, loving husband, son, father, grandfather and brother.

A visitation for Mike will be held Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2018, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Colonial Funeral Home, 625 Kitty Hawk Rd., Universal City, TX 78148.

A prayer service will occur Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2018, from 7 to 8 p.m., 625 Kitty Hawk Rd., Universal City, TX 78148.

A committal service will occur Thursday, Feb. 8, 2018, from 1 to 2 p.m. at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd., San Antonio, TX 78209.
