Forty-nine years of continous residence in Benson was the record held by Mrs. Francisca Figueroa who passed away at her home last Sunday afternoon at one o'clock. All of Mrs. Figueroa's living children were present at the time and they are as follows: Juana Grijalva, Ana Meza and Petra Stevenson. Her husband and two sons, Antonio and Enrique, died several years ago. Also she leaves thirteen grandchildren, one of whom, Federico, she has reared up to the age of eight years.
The deceased was born on April 12, 1869 and her name was Celaya before her marriage. She was nearly 66 years of age at the time of her death. Mrs. Figueroa was beloved by all because of her many kindly deeds and a large congregation assembled at the Catholic church in Benson for the funeral Monday afternoon. Damacia de Cota, Mrs. Figueroa's mother, is still living and is 94 years old. Interment was in the old Benson cemetery." ~ Contributed by: Candace Young-Mayo
