Nick Alexander, 72, of Sioux City died Saturday, Nov. 13, 2004, at a Sioux City retirement home following a lengthy illness.

Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel, with the Rev. Bob Dillman officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 9 p.m. today, with the family present 7 to 9 p.m. and a prayer service at 8 p.m., at the funeral home.

Nick was born March 12, 1932, in Newbern, Tenn., the son of Thurman and Louise (Byrd) Alexander. He graduated from the 12th grade. He served in the U.S. Air Force.

He married Darlene Stallbaum on March 13, 1955, in Ponca, Neb. He lived in Sioux City, retired to Arkansas and returned to Sioux City three years ago. He was a retired sheet metal worker for Haco Engineering. Mrs. Alexander passed away in 1997 in Arkansas.

He was a member of the local sheet metal union and Grace Baptist Church in Paragould, Ark.

Survivors include two sons, Roy and Barb Alexander of Plymouth, Minn., and Richard Alexander of Omaha; two daughters, Karen and Gerald Foster and Rose and Mark Marsh, all of Sioux City; a brother, Billy Ray Alexander; a sister, Peggy Synder; and seven grandchildren, Amy and Ashley Alexander, Stacie and Kaitlyn Marsh and Gina, Jamie and Andrew Foster.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Darlene Alexander.
