Mrs. Mary C. White, 77, well-known New Bernian, died at her home at Johnson Street here yesterday afternoon following an extended illness. Mrs. White had been in ill health about 10 years and in a critical condition about six months.
She was the widow of the late Edward J. White, Confederate veteran who died in 1930. She was a native of Burlington but spent most of her life in New Bern, and was a member of Christ Episcopal church.
Funeral services will be held today, but the hour had not been set last night. Rev. C. E. Williams, rector of Christ Episcopal church, will officiate and burial will be in Cedar Grove cemetery.
Mrs. White is survived only by nieces and nephews.
