Joel Herman Haynes, age 90, of Sherrills Ford, was a son to the late Roland Palmer and Eva Georgia Hoyle Haynes. He was also predeceased by his wife of 63 years, Sue Lutz Haynes; a son, Dean Haynes.
Mr. Haynes was one of 10 children, 3 sisters and 6 brothers. Joel served 5 years in the Army with two years in Korea and 3 years in Germany. Afterwards, he worked for Duke Power for 30 years having retired in 1983. He married Sue Lutz on March 10, 1951, and was married for 63 years. Joel and Sue spent their retirement years on Lake Norman living and playing with their family and friends.
Interment in Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church Cemetery in Sherrills Ford. The family will receive friends at Warlick Funeral Home on Thursday from 1:00 until 1:45 p.m.
