HOUGHLAND
Louis "Slim" Houghland, 72, of Godfrey, died at 10:29 p.m., Wednesday at St. Josephs Hospital after an illness of three years.
He was chief melter at Laclede Steel for 32 years before retiring in the late 1960's.
His wife, Opal, died in November of 1975.
Houghland was born in Pinckneyville, Illinois, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Cullen Houghland.
Surviving is one sister, Effie Place, of Pinckneyville, Illinois.
Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Sunday at Gent Funeral home where services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday by the Rev. James Boyer.
Burial will be in Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey.
