William “Billy” Brewer, 78, of Westport, passed away at 7:12 p.m. on Friday January 12, 2018 at the Emergency Room of Decatur County Memorial Hospital. He was born on January 14, 1939 in Breathitt County, Kentucky, the son of Monroe and Lottie Belle (Strong) Brewer. He was born and raised in Kentucky and moved to Westport in 1963. He had graduated in 1959 from Breathitt High School in Jackson, Kentucky. William retired in 1996 after 33 years of service from Cummins Engine Company on the fuel systems line. He was a member of the Intercontinental Church of God and the Greensburg American Legion Post #129. He was a Veteran having served with the US Army. Billy enjoyed Kentucky Basketball, trains, classic country music, Ford Cars and loved his grandchildren and his dog Max.

He married Wilma Jean Noble in Whick, Kentucky on September 5, 1964 and she survives. Other survivors include his daughters, Delana Brewer and Alissa (Gregory) Isenberg both of Westport; his son, William Dale (Tawana) Brewer of Westport; his sister, Fanny Ervin of Newport, Kentucky; his grandchildren, Alisha Brewer, Zachary Brewer and Lydia Isenberg all of Westport. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Thelma Cope and Fairlean Arrowood and brothers, Virgil Brewer, Hubert Brewer, Verdie Brewer, Fred Brewer, James Brewer and Linsey Brewer who died in infancy.

The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at the Bass & Gasper Funeral Home in Westport. Pastor Aaron Arrowood and Pastor Mike Partridge will be officiating. Burial will follow at the Westport Cemetery with military graveside rites. Friends and Family may call on Monday, January 15, 2018 from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to the American Diabetes Association or the American Heart Association.
