He graduated in 1954 from Breathitt High School in Jackson, Kentucky.
He had been a resident of Westport since 1957.
He retired in 1997 from Rockwell Automation, after 32 years of service. He was a member of Life Apostolic Church and Westport American Legion Post.
He was a veteran having served with the U.S. Army.
He married Emma Haddix Jan. 31, 1958, in Jackson, Kentucky, and she survives. Other survivors include his daughter, Donna (Clinton) Powell; sons, Eddie (Sheri) Brewer, James R. (Madalyn) Brewer, Kevin (Robin) Brewer, all of Westport, David (Nancy) Brewer of Scipio; sister, Fanny Irvin of Newport, Kentucky; brothers, William "Billy" (Wilma) Brewer of Westport; 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Virgil, Hubert, Veirdie, Fred, and Linsey Brewer, who died in infancy; sisters, Thelma Cope and Fairleen Arrowood; grandson, Grant Brewer and great-granddaughter, Avery Brewer.
Visitation for friends and family will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 5, at Bass & Gasper Funeral Home in Westport. Funeral services begin at 1 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 6 at the funeral home with Rev. Aaron Arrowood and Rev. Gerald Sharp officiating. Burial will follow at Westport Cemetery.
