Myrle Miner Shields was born Friday, February 6, 1920 in Hinckley, Utah to George Delaze Miner and Lillie Elizabeth Anderson Miner.

She married Vaughn Elbert Shields on September 2, 1936 in American Fork; later solemnized in the Logan Temple. Vaughn passed away on January 11, 1998.

Myrle was a hairstylist for over 45 years. She and Vaughn loved to bowl, golf, and took great pride in their yard and garden. She especially loved her roses. Mom took care of Vaughn through his long illness with Alzheimer's Disease.

She won the battle of two cancer ordeals and endured a three-year illness with courage and dignity to the end. A life-long member of the LDS Church, she had a lot of faith and survived many challenges.

Myrle passed away peacefully of natural causes on Sunday, January 2, 2005 at Highland Cove Retirement Community in East Millcreek, Utah, where she had been a patient for three days. She resided at 6196 South Cedar Street (100 West) in Murray, Utah at the time of her death.

Myrle was survived by her brother, Darwin Miner (Bonnie); one son, Earl V. Shields (Barbara); two daughters, Joane S. Gile (Darrell), Marlene S. Feurer (Ralph), 11 grandchildren, and many great and even some great-great-grandchildren. She will be missed by all of us. She was preceded in death by her husband, Vaughn E. Shields; one grandson, Kyle Shields; numerous brothers including a twin brother, and two sisters.

Funeral Services were held on January 5, 2005 at 12:30 p.m. in the Murray Twenty-First Ward Chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints located at 41 West Clay Park Drive (6280 South) in Murray, Utah. A viewing was held prior to the services from 11:00 a.m. until 12:15 p.m.
