Loretta graduated from Poydras High School and two days later went to work for BellSouth. On Dec. 7, 1952 she married Lester Fabre. She left the phone company after one year to raise her family. When her children went to school, she went back to work. She worked at Bob’s Western Store for 16 years, then LaCoste Construction Company, then Wal-Mart. She left Wal-Mart due to Lester’s illness but in 2004 after her husband passed away, she again joined the workforce, at Bergeron’s Boudin and Cajun Meats. From there Loretta retired to rest and read. She remained active at The Veteran’s Home in Jackson even after her husband’s death. In 2009, Loretta was honored to be Marshall of the Port Allen Veteran’s Day Parade, and she was the only person that was not a Veteran to have such an honor.
Per Loretta’s wishes, she was cremated and a graveside service to bury her ashes will be held at Chenal Cemtery in Jarreau on Saturday, January 13th at 10 a.m., conducted by Father Todd Lloyd.
She is survived by her two sons, Michael and wife Ginger Marie Jarreau Fabre of Erwinville and Carl Jude and wife Tina R.
