Early Life: Paul was born May 12, 1926, in American Fork, Utah, to Urban and Mary Emily Wanlass Johnson. Paul joined the United States Navy four days before his 18th birthday and served four years active duty.
Life's Work | Service | Interests: He then served 38 years in the Navy Reserve. He worked at Geneva Steel for 39 years. When asked who was the most influential person in his life, Paul answered, "Jean, the gal I married. She had the most influence." Paul and Shirley Jean Felsted were married June 14, 1948; they were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. She preceded him in death on May 16, 2012. His marriage advice was simply, "Just be good to each other." As an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he served as a bishop for five years and as a high councilor for 14 years. Paul and Jean served a mission in Southern Louisiana from 1987 to 1988. He once said he would like to be remembered as someone who was, "Just friendly and enjoyed being around people; didn't ignore anybody." Eldon Paul Johnson passed away Friday, December 29, 2017. He was 91.
Survived By: Five children: David (Kathy), Mark (Yoriko), Brent (Karen), Lorrie, and Lisa (Mark); 22 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
Preceded In Death By: His parents and his four older siblings, including his brother, Boyd, who gave him the lasting nickname "Tink."
