He was born in Pittsylvania County July 15, 1897, a son of the late Richard and Nannie Elliott Irby and was a retired farmer.
Surviving are his wife, Nannie Dalton Irby of Gretna; three Sons, Eugene Irby, William J. Irby and Calvin R. Irby, all of Gretna; Seven daughters Mrs. Mrs. Bessie Simpson, Mrs. Katie Robertson, and Mrs. Kathleen Dalton, all of Gretna, Mrs. Loueila Robertson of Hurt, Mrs. Dottie Francis and Mrs. Sarah DeJarnette, both of Nathalie; one brother, Edgar Irby of Hurt; one Sister, Miss Carrie Irby of Lynchburg; 41 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren.
The body is at Colbert Funeral Home pending completion of final arrangements. The family is at the home om Gretna Rt. 4.
